Hi, I’m Andrew, and this is my site. I’m a composer, percussionist, and media artist pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when technology interfaces with live performance environments.
I work across percussion, 3D environments/graphics programming, creative software development, and projects at the confluence of art and science. My work has been performed and presented around the world, including venues such as Google Cultural Lab (Paris), the University of Brasília, City University of Hong Kong, STEIM (Amsterdam), Gray Area Center for the Arts, and the National Conservatory of Music and Dance (Lyon), among others.
My work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Knight Foundation, and the Soundwave Biennial, and is part of the University of North Texas Permanent Collection. I recieved a Bachelors in Music in Percussioon Performance from the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, a Masters of Fine Art in New Media Art from the University of North Texas, and a PhD in Music Composition from the University of California, Berkeley working closely with the Center for New Music and Audio Technology (CNMAT). Currently I’m an Associate Professor and Area Cooridinator of the Computers in Art Design Research and Education (CADRE) Media Labs at San Jose State University.
Right now, I’m focused on the emergent potential between cross-disciplinary arts and technology, specifically in music composition, new media art, and building sound + visual environments through software development.
